Ranjani Gayatri MasterClass '22

After a hugely successful first season of Masterclass in 2021, Ranjani Gayatri are back with yet another season, in response to overwhelming requests for more such sessions.  Here comes Masterclass 2022, an advanced intense learning program to learn Carnatic music from the Masters. Below are the details.

Some of the qualifying participants in the Masterclass would also get an opportunity to become regular students of Ranjani Gayatri.

Who is this Program for?

Serious, advanced students of Carnatic music who may or may not aspire to become Concert performers, but are keen to develop a deeper understanding of the grammar and techniques of presentation in Carnatic Music.

Participants are expected to:

  • Have a firm grasp of basic concepts of Carnatic music including Swaras,  tala and concept of raga.

  • Have undergone sufficient training in Carnatic Music  and be able to present Varnams in 2 Kaalams and Krithis.

  • Must be initiated into aspects of Manodharma and have a keen interest in understanding and exploring Manodharma at a higher level.

  • Dedicate an hour or more of practice/ sadhana everyday, at least during the program.

Program Coverage

  • Use of Voice and aesthetics of vocal bani in Carnatic music

  • Uniqueness of Gamakas, Raga structures and Tala complexities

  • Developing various aspects of Manodharma

  • Presenting Ragam Tanam Pallavi

  • Grahabhedam

  • Presentation of Viruttams, Abhangs & Bhajans
     

​These topics would be covered both through lectures and hands-on teaching of compositions handpicked by Ranjani & Gayatri. Every participant will receive direct guidance for their improvement.

Timelines

  • Applications are open from May 05, 2022 to May 15, 2022

  • Seats are limited and will be filled by applicants meeting criteria on a first-come-first-serve basis

  • The classes will be spread over 10 sessions, starting June 07, 2022
